Year 6 Weekly News

An amazing week Year 6. You continue to work hard in all areas of your learning and you are covering so many areas of our curriculum too. Well done

Maths this week has been dedicated to Geometry. We have worked with angles to find missing angles in triangles, opposite angles and around a point. We have also made different shapes from their nets and found known pats of a circle. Today we tackled a SATs reasoning paper. We have now completed all three maths papers and we will analyse our answers next week.

We have continued with our new piece of writing in English and shared this time with recapping different spelling patterns. We have also looked at plurals as this is a week area of Year 6 spellings and one that they should have covered if lockdown hadn't happened. We have focused on different word classes in our sentence accuracy and used this knowledge to complete a SATs spelling and grammar paper.

During Book Club this week we have been busy analysing SATs reading papers and sitting SATs reading papers in test condition.

We have been just as busy in our afternoons. We have continued with our DT project by adding detail to our waistcoats. We have been introduced to Stan the anatomical skeleton In Science. Thank you to Ophelia's mum for donating this amazing resource. We also thought about how nutrients enter our blood stream. We have completed our Questful map in RE and we have enjoyed our two PE sessions, athletics and badminton are our focus. In Geography we have thought about protection and prevention of avalanches. We will complete our final assessment lesson next week. Reflection was our theme in music this week as we looked back through our journals. Reflection was also our theme in Wellbeing. We have spent time on our Daily Mile track, the adventure playground and we have met up with our favourite buddies.

Please can you encourage your child to keep up to date with their homework as we spend our final week of SATs preparations together. New homework has been set.
