As writers, we have continued to plan and write our PGL write. How nice it has been to reflect on our experiences across all of our English lessons. We have worked really hard to carefully craft and write every paragraph and they are a fantastic record of our time away!

In maths, we have completed our decimals unit by rounding decimals to the nearest whole number. We used blank numberline to remember whether the tenth number round up or down. We have extended our key fact knowledge of decimals to know 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 as decimals. We used hundredth grids as one strategy to prove the relationship between fractions and decimals. We have moved on to learn about money. We have learnt how to write money using decimals, as pounds and pence.

We also were the proud winners of the TT rockstars trophy.

The Wind of the Willows is a famous story that we have got to know in our reading sessions. To begin with, we looked closely at the description of the river. We have also had some days of reading our big cat books.

We have challenged ourselves in science this week. We consolidated our prior learning linked to creating an electrical circuit. We drew, investigated, and predicted whether various circuits would light the bulb. By the end of the lesson, we compared two circuits created and decided that one circuit allowed the bulb to shine brighter.

In Wellbeing, we used the open-ended starter 'I am...' and we looked at the possibility of using yoga as a way to relax our body and mind.

In our RE lesson this week, we read Paul's letter to the Romans. In this letter, Paul writes about how the people in the church should behave. We reflected on what we felt this meant to us. We compared these to our school values. We then went on to look at St Chads noticeboard and website. We thought about the values of the church and what they do for their community. We spoke about what we feel is important to us and the qualities and commitments we want to show. We then created our own notice boards celebrating who we are. These looked fantastic.

We started our new history unit this week. We learnt about where China is on a map of the world as well as taking a closer look at China as a country. We learnt about key features of China which we will learn about throughout our unit. We then went on to learn about when the Shang Dynasty came in our timeline of History.

We started our HeartSmart lesson by asking the question 'What do you do?' We thought that there are many answers people give to this e.g. I do gymnastics, I do art, I go to school, I am a teacher, etc. We learnt that what you do isn't who you are. If we are what we do – then when we do something great – we are great. But then when we make a mistake, or we fail at something, we think we are a mistake and a failure. You are special before you even do anything. We used a class talent show to explain this new message. It helped us to remember that we are human beings before human doings. You didn't choose me. I chose you. John 15:16

In our Art lessons this week, we started to learn about our new unit. We started our unit by learning about the work of 'Claes Oldenburg'. We watched videos of his art work and created our own artist pages in our sketchbooks.

In our Science lesson this week, we have learnt how we hear sounds. We showed how soundwaves (amplitude) get bigger when the vibration gets bigger. We learnt how sounds travel through vibrations to our ears and how our eardrum receives this and send electrical messages to the brain.

We learnt more Scratch coding skills in computing this week. We have learnt about using count controlled and infinite loops to programme our sprites to do something for either a specific number of times or an infinite amount. We learnt when these codes would be best used.

Maths.co.uk homework has been set this week. Please continue to play on Soundcheck on TT Rockstars too.

Have a wonderful weekend.
