Happy Easter Team!

In our English lessons, we have planned and written our Elephant Endings, carefully considering how our characters feel, how they find their way home, and what awaits them when they arrive. Everyone has worked incredibly hard on their Wild Things stories, creating exciting and engaging reads. We have also focused on sentence accuracy, ensuring correct use of capital letters, punctuation, and suffixes. Well done to everyone for their effort and creativity!

In our Math lessons, we have been recapping previous learning, focusing on measurements by using centimeters to measure different objects and practicing how to use a ruler correctly. We have also worked on subtraction within 20 to strengthen our understanding. In the afternoons, we explored odd and even numbers, discussing how even numbers always contain a double. Watching Numberblocks was a fun and engaging way to reinforce our learning, and we have really enjoyed deepening our mathematical knowledge!

In our RE lessons, we reflected on the Easter Story and made connections to the bulbs and seeds we planted, observing how they went underground before blooming into new life. We discussed the meaning of the palm cross and its link to Palm Sunday, deepening our understanding of its symbolism. Everyone was grateful to receive an Easter cross to take home, reminding us of the importance of this special time.

Theme Day was an exciting and unforgettable experience! We loved seeing each other's amazing costumes and had a fantastic morning learning all about the RSPCA. It was fascinating to discover the different animals they care for and how litter affects British wildlife. We even took action by litter picking around the school to help protect the animals in our grounds. Role-playing as animal carers-checking ears and weighing animals-was so much fun! In the afternoon, we got creative crafting animals and even spent time on Fort Lewis. It truly was a wild and wonderful day!

In our D&T lesson, we evaluated our windmills by testing them both indoors and outdoors. We checked if they could stand properly, observed how they moved when pushed, and watched to see if they spun in the wind. After our evaluation, we spent time making improvements, strengthening our windmills to make them even better. It was great to see our designs in action and refine them for success!

In our Computing lessons, we continued exploring data by deciding how to group objects to answer questions. We compared different groups, analyzed the information, and recorded our findings. Finally, we shared what we discovered, developing our skills in organizing and interpreting data in a fun and interactive way!

We had a wonderful time at Messy Church, enjoying a crafty morning with our adults to celebrate Easter. We made beautiful woolen crosses, Easter wreaths, and colorful Easter cards. It was a lovely way to get creative and reflect on the meaning of Easter together with our loved ones!

In our Geography lessons, we explored how the weather changes across different seasons and discussed how the Earth's tilt affects Summer and Autumn. During our end-of-unit check, we reviewed everything we had learned about seasons and weather. As a fun activity, we each recorded a weather forecast for a specific season, sharing interesting facts along the way. It was a fun and engaging way to wrap up our learning!

In our Heartsmart lesson, we reflected on the Bible quote, "Love does not count up wrongs that have been done." (Corinthians 13:4-5). We explored The Borris Story and discussed different feelings and how they affect us. To understand how we react to disappointment, we became robots and acted out different responses. This helped us think about making positive choices in difficult situations.

For our last music lesson of the half-term, we had great fun answering questions as a whole class. We listened carefully to identify note lengths, different languages, and various instruments, among other challenges. The best part was seeing the screen turn green when we got an answer right-it made the lesson even more exciting!

In PE this week, we created our final dances with partners, making sure to include mirroring and smooth transitions between different levels and pathways. We then peer-reviewed each other's performances. Although space was limited due to the hall being in use, we made the most of it! In our striking and fielding lesson, we put our bowling and striking skills to the test in a class game of rounders. It was so much fun working in teams and using everything we had learned!

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter holidays with their families. I look forward to welcoming you back!
