This week in Year 1 has been full of creativity, exploration, and lots of exciting new learning!
In English, we have started thinking about our own versions of Stella and the Seagull. The children have designed their own seagulls and used their imaginations to change the litter the seagull might bring. We are all very excited to begin writing our own stories next!
In Maths, we have begun learning about 2D shapes. We have been identifying different shapes and discussing their properties, including the number of sides and corners.
In RE, we have been learning about baptism and discussing how children are welcomed into the world and into their families. The children shared some lovely ideas and experiences.
Our Geography lesson saw us learning how to plan a route. We then took Winnie and Winston on a journey around school, visiting important places and following the routes we had created.
In Art, we continued exploring spirals. We focused on using different types of lines and practised blending techniques to create our own spiral artwork.
In Computing, we have been developing our digital writing skills. The children learnt how to type their usernames and had a go at typing their names and short sentences using Google Docs.
In HeartSmart, we explored the theme “Fake is a Mistake.” The children had great fun turning everyday objects into something completely different, while learning that being ourselves is always the best choice.
Finally, in Science, we have been learning about plants and have started to identify and label the different parts.
It has been a fantastic week, and we are so proud of all the children’s hard work and enthusiasm! Have a lovely weekend in the sunshine!
