Year 1 News 23.1.26

We’ve had a wonderfully busy and creative week in Year 1! In English, the children began thinking about writing their own stories, starting by designing their very own birds to inspire their ideas. In maths, we focused on solving word problems and exploring fact families, helping children see how numbers link together. Forest School was a real highlight as we learned how to make fires safely, and everyone was incredibly proud to successfully light a fire using the “dragon sneezes” technique. In geography, we explored how the weather changes with the seasons and learned about the Earth’s tilt. Our art lessons were full of excitement as we used new resources to draw some beautiful beetles, while in RE we brought the Bible story The Stilling of the Storm to life by acting it out, creating sea sounds with instruments and pretending to be the disciples in the boat. We really have had a lovely week of learning and fun together.
