Happy Easter, Reception Class!

What a delightful and eventful week it has been, filled with learning, fun, and Easter joy!
It may be a shorter week but we've made the most of every moment, embracing new challenges and adventures with enthusiasm.

Mathematical Development: This week, we delved deeper into the world of patterns, focusing on recognizing and building more complex ABB and AAB patterns. Through exploration, we discovered that patterns can manifest in various forms, including shapes, colors, sizes, and even sounds. Your curiosity and creativity have truly shone through in our mathematical endeavors!

Literacy Development: Congratulations on completing our Ready Steady Write unit on 'Little Red'! We've now planned and written up the problem penguin and ending bear sections of the story, showcasing your amazing writing skills, Reception Class. I couldn't be prouder of your achievements!

Physical Development: In our PE sessions, we embraced the Easter spirit with a cosmic yoga session on an Easter egg hunt with the Easter bunny. We also had a blast at the Easter disco, perfecting our bunny hops and enjoying the festive atmosphere. To wind down, we participated in a calming session, focusing on relaxation and deep breathing.

Understanding the World: Our Questful RE journey reached its culmination as we explored why Christians believe Easter is about love. We delved into the poignant story of the Last Supper, engaging in meaningful discussions about its significance. Washing each other's feet and sharing bread and wine (or Cherry and Berry juice) allowed us to reflect on Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection, filling our hearts with gratitude and hope.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: In our well-being sessions, we explored the arrival of different emotions and practiced relaxation and calming techniques to navigate through challenging moments. Your resilience and ability to manage big emotions continue to impress and inspire me, Reception Class.

Expressive Arts and Design Development: Together with our families, we engaged in a variety of activities for Easter Messy church, including making Easter crowns, crafting Easter cards, weaving woolen crosses, and writing reflective Easter messages. The act of planting a seed to symbolize new life and the resurrection of Jesus was a beautiful reminder of the hope and renewal that Easter brings.

Our voices united in song as we sang a lovely rendition of 'This is the Day,' echoing the sentiments of Psalm 118:1-2 and celebrating the joyous occasion.

As we celebrate Easter and the promise of new beginnings, let us carry the lessons learned and the memories shared into the days ahead. May your hearts be filled with joy, love, and the spirit of Easter.

Warm wishes,
Mrs Ward
