On Thursday Year 6 presented their first worship to the rest of the school. They did a brilliant job! They have all got stuck into their responsibility jobs this week, their enthusiasm is infectious! Our head and deputy boys and girls have written the scripts for worship and led it; the house captains have been counting house points; games captains and play leader organising sport rotas and equipment; the fundraisers have booked their first event; school councillors have organised their first meeting with one of our governors and have asked each class to nominate class reps; our worship monitors are doing a grand job each day organising the prayers and music; our PAs have been busy; librarians have been getting to grips with the new library; the office monitors have been learning the ropes; our pet monitor has been making plans; Cloakroom monitor checking our cloak rooms and our class monitor keeping the classroom tidy. I think that's everyone!
We also spent some time with our buddies on Tuesday afternoon, teaching them how to take photos on the ipads and sharing books.
In literacy we have got stuck into our story, Exodus. Looking at the key features of the text and writing descriptions of the island of Wing.
Maths, we have focused on place value — checking values up to 10 million. We enjoyed outdoor maths and starters which mad us think. The challenge of the week was to work out how long it would take us to count to a billion using the time it took us to count to 100 — a long time! Counting a million would take over 4 days!
We have also done some big art, had our first French lesson with Miss Lake, enjoyed science with Mrs Jenkins and produced some lovely watercolours to use as backgrounds to our writing.
Tomorrow includes RE and PE, Spellings and Maths!
Enjoy your weekend Year 6 — You deserve it!
