Happy New Year, year one! This is not the way we wanted to start our new year but everyone has...
Year 6 News
This week in Literacy we have started a revision unit of work based on rainforests. This will allow us over the next few weeks to write in a wide range of styles and genres of writing. This week we have concentrated on note taking, description and diary. We have been trying to upscale our sentences by thinking about the opening word(s), we have been trying to use nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, connectives or similes as a starting word (this allowed us to revise these words for SPAG too!) We are also challenging ourselves to push our range of punctuation to include brackets, colons and semi-colons. The pilot diaries have been a great read! We have also been focusing on aspects of the reading paper — how text is presented on the page and inference.
In maths we have continued to look at ratio and proportion and we have continued to look at evolution with Mrs Jenkins for science. French and music have continued too.
New spellings have been set for the remaining weeks of the term and My Maths homework has been updated.
Enjoyed your weekend everyone!
