It was lovely to share some of our Literacy and Numeracy lesson's with mums and dads early in the week. Our writing challenges at the moment are to target sentence openers to engage the reader. We have been using a word class dice to decide how we should be starting sentences. This week in Literacy we have focused on writing a non-chronological report about rainforest animals. In maths we have been focusing on word problems involving measures- trying to make sure we include all our working out jottings.
We thoroughly enjoyed sock day! There were many socks in Y6! We took part in a philosophy4children (P4C) session debating, 'unique=same?', as a stimulus. The children thought of some great questions in response but our final vote was to debate 'Why do people react to others differences?' The children had some fantastic ideas, they were a real credit with their thoughts, we created a conversation web across the circle. The final thoughts we that we are all unique but on the inside we are all the same; uniqueness is not something to be scared of but to celebrate!
