Year 6 News

Another busy week has flown by! This week we have been busy with Bikeability on Wednesday and Thursday. We all thoroughly enjoyed being out and about on our bikes, the instructors commented on how well behaved and engaged Year 6 was with the sessions. Best of all, we all passed! Well done Year 6!
We have shared our Candlemas aspirations, ambitions and resolutions as part of a whole school celebration. We also shared what we had found out about the characteristics of God in the festivals of light — Candlemas, Diwali and Hanukah.
We have also enjoyed meeting Ann Angel and Jay Vaja as part of our Interfaith Week work. Ann showed the children a traditional shabbat meal, religious artefacts and talked about aspects of her Jewish faith. Jay came to talk to us about his Hindu faith and we asked lots of questions. Mrs Taylor led a P4C session exploring our thoughts about a multicultural Britain.
In Literacy we have been making Newsround reports based on the events of Nursery rhymes. We have had great fun altering the rhymes and adding in information. In maths we have been developing our graph skills. Science, we have continued to look at classification. Did you know there are an estimated 8.7 million different species on earth currently? We were also shocked to find out 99% of species that have ever lived on earth are now extinct! We have also continued with our French with Miss Lake.
