Well... Santa had to learn some new skills this year. He and his elves magically sent each class a...
Year 6: Monday and Tuesday
There was much excitement to start our week as the bikes rolled up and 'Bikeability' got underway. Once the sessions were completed, Year 6 reported back, saying they now felt safer and more 'road aware'. That's great news! Well done to everyone who took part.
As this was to be a mixed up start to the week, we took the opportunity to do some cross-curricular writing in smaller groups. We combined science and English, reading up on animal adaptations and planning an information text which will eventually become a leaflet for study work. We were surprised to learn that a badger has a reinforced skull which it uses like a shovel, and found out many more fascinating facts.
We also spent quite some time learning more about the passive voice. This can be a very tricky technique to master but is useful in many styles of writing. We persevered but feel that more work on this skill will be beneficial before we can confidently incorporate it into our own writing.
We will continue with our information texts next week, and also take the opportunity to do some catch up work so that examples of our fantastic writing can be showcased in our Exodus study work books.
Spag.com homework will be set this evening and will be due in next Tuesday.
Enjoy the rest of your learning this week Year 6.
