In English this week we started our new unit on newspaper reports. We started with looking at the features, using real newspapers to identify and highlight the key features of newspaper reports. We dove straight into our newspaper report all about Torak the wolf! He escaped from the UK Wolf Trust and was on the run for almost 6 hours! We researched the news story looking for quotes and key bits of information to help us construct our own newspaper report next week.

In Maths we started our new unit on DUN...DUN...DUN...Fractions! Lots of children were a little bit worried about starting this unit but everybody showed a brilliant attitude this week and we realised that they aren't actually that scary. We now know that our fantastic times table knowledge can help us to break down and understand fractions. And by the end of the week we were simplifying fractions, finding equivalents and even converting improper fractions to mixed fractions and visa versa! All of this new knowledge was supported by pictorial learning — we used pictures to help show us what the fractions actually look like!
In Book Club we had our shared read on the legend 'Wolf Man'. We broke the text down and picked out key bits of information. Throughout the week we then did lots o activities based around our focus read for the week. Children answered comprehension questions, had discussions and looked at a poem with Mrs Whittingham.

In our afternoon sessions we did computing, study work, R.E and music!

In music we continued with our class song, we focused on the rhythm and pulse of Adele's "Make You Feel My Love".

In Computing we started our brand new coding programme with studiocode. We started with an introduction through "Hour of Code". We used Minecraft and Star Wars to help us understand the programme and coding skills. We also used the app "HP Reveal" and brought the classroom to life! We added an element of augmented reality to our room via the app. If you'd like to download it at home the app is available on both android and IOS — "HP Reveal".

In R.E we continued with our topic of forgiveness. We talked about how people confess and discussed how Catholics confess. We also discussed the British Value of "individual liberty" and talked about why we are free at Wybunbury Delves and why some other children do not have their individual liberty!

Points wise, we are now up to 27! Well over half way and well on our way to our cinema trip!

Have a brilliant weekend,

Mr Dale
