Year 5 News: Points mean Prizes!

Home » News » Year 5 News: Points mean Prizes!

This week in Year 5 we have been poets, fraction crackers and wolf experts.

In English we finished our unit on poems. We wrote our own poems using rhyming couplets. Children thought about emotion and feeling within their poems to produce some powerful pieces.

In Maths we continued with fractions and started to look at decimals too. We continued to compare, convert and order fractions. We moved on to looking at decimals and had a go at practising answering questions in pairs. On Friday we completed our addition and subtraction paper, well done everybody — lots of impressive scores!

In Science we carried on looking at life cycles. We compared humans to wolves and thought about similarities and differences using the iPads as a research tool. We started to construct our study work page — it's looking great.

In R.E we completed our assessment piece. We thought about how we feel before, during and after we confess. Children were brilliant at describing emotions and feelings around confessions and forgiveness.

In Computing we continued to use Studio Code, we are doing really well at improving our coding skills.

On Friday we had a P.E session with Mr Dale and played 'The Game with no Name' — I'm sure children will be able to explain the rules (most probably?). It was lovely to see the children working hard in P.E and in a team environment.

AND FINALLY...On Friday we hit 50 points which means...WE ARE GOING TO SEE EARLY MAN AT THE CINEMA. I will send details out to parents closer to the time.

I hope you all have a lovely half term break whatever you are up to,

Mr Dale
