Year 5 news reported to you by Amitis and Emily......

Our week in Maths began with time, we looked at train timetables and television timetables and worked with digital time. We finished the week working with fractions, both proper, improper and fractions in mixed numbers. In Literacy we have begun a new unit, instructional writing. We have brainstormed ideas to instruct Mumpo (out of our class story) on how to drive a Landsailer.

There was a real buzz in our classroom as our map skills were put to the test this week in Geography. We named different Continents, Oceans and other important map information, like the Equator. We were introduced to new terms, longitude and latitude and how co-ordinates are read in degrees. The Great Lakes were spotted in North America too.

In PE we have learnt the skills for indoor athletics, including; javelin, running and much more. In RE this week we have looked further into the Judaism faith. We have been note taking and sharing new knowledge about the features of a Synagogue. House worship this week was about Christingle and the meaning behind the message.

Our week concluded with computer coding where we are making a new app.

Another great week and a well earned rest to all.
