What a busy we we've had,
We've worked so hard, so don't be mad.

We've been on quite a busy streak
Because poetry has been the focus of our week.

This week has been poetry week at Wybunbury Delves, and we have fully immersed ourselves in it. Each day, we've been sharing poems in Book Club. We read 'I Don't Know What To Do Today' by Kenneth Nesbitt and worked as a team to perform it. In our next session, we gathered top tips for performing poetry which we used to learn and perform 'On The Ning Nang Nong' by Spike Miligan. We performed this for Year 1 today; we enjoyed watching them perform it as well because they have been learning it too in their class. In our English lessons, we have been exploring and writing poems. We have written Nonsense Acrostic Poems, Haikus and Rhyming Riddles.

In Maths, we started our new unit on written addition and subtraction. We recapped our skills and developed them to help us solve more complex problems.

In our afternoons — at the start of the week — we got messy with clay as we brought our Ancient Greek pot designs to life. We realised that we may have been a little over ambition with our designs, so we had a do a little bit of simplifying. We learnt how to create thumb pots and use coils to add height and structure to the pot. You were all brilliant, and I really am in awe of all of you. You didn't give up and showed true determination — even though it was rather tricky. Out of nothing, each of you have managed to create something very impressive.

On Tuesday, computing occupied our afternoon. During the lesson, we edited our solar system spreadsheets and continued our coding modules. On Thursday we learnt about the heliocentric and geocentric models of the solar system and how they changed and advanced over time. Finally, on Friday, we our pots were ready to begin painting.

Hope you have a great weekend,

Miss P
