This week in Year 5 . . .

In Maths, we moved onto a new topic called Area and Perimeter. Initially, we have been focusing on perimeter and learning how to calculate the perimeter of rectilinear shapes, even when the length of some of the sides is missing. As part of our English lessons, we used our plans from last week to write a biography of Hercules. It's a tricky genre to write but you guys have done a brilliant job. Thank you for being so resilient.

Study work and spellings have been the predominant focus of our afternoons this week. For the first half hour of each afternoon, we have been learning different spelling strategies to help us learn our statutory spellings; we realised that you can have fun learning spellings by playing games like Hangman. Once we finished our spelling session, we moved onto Study Work. We have completed several of our pages and moved onto a couple of new ones too. Our books are looking great.

Have a great weekend,

Miss P
