We continued with biographies this week in English. We learnt about the legendary hero Hercules and created a timeline of his life. It's a good job he's just a character in a story because he did some crazy things like accidentally killing his music teacher with a lyre. Needless to say, I'm glad I get to teach all of you rather than Hercules. We went on to use the timeline to create a plan for the biography we will be writing about his life next week.

In Maths, we continued using our knowledge of times tables to help us learn about cubed numbers. We also learnt how to times and divide by 10, 100 and 1000.

In the afternoons, on Monday, we completed the study work page that we started last week and then continued with our RE unit where we were looking at the different names that Jesus is given around Christmas time; we looked at the names given to Jesus in the book of Isaiah.

On Wednesday, we continued with our science topic on space. We checked out the news as on Monday, the latest robot to travel to Mars made a safe touch down. Next, we looked at looked at footage of the first man walking on the moon. We then discussed everything we knew about the moon and continued learning about how it wanes and waxes during a month. It raised some interesting questions that we are still finding out the answers for.

On Thursday, we were historians and learnt about primary and secondary sources. We used a picture of a primary source to gather information about the clothes that Ancient Greeks wore — we realised that it didn't answer all our questions so we had to look at other source to gather a complete picture. Did you know that the Ancient Greeks dyed their clothes using plants, insects and flowers? Finally, we closed the week with computing.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss P
