Year 4 News
This week in Year 4 we have explored lots of new learning.
In English we have learnt about the features of a letter and the type of language used within formal and informal text. We were all brilliant at distinguishing between these forms of writing. We then wrote our own informal letter (based on our class story of Harry Potter) to Mrs Figgs explaining Harry's trip to the zoo. This then led to us receiving our own letter from Hogwarts inviting us to attend the school of magic. In response, we have begun to write acceptance letters using our knowledge of formal writing.
In Maths we have estimated the value of a number on a number line all the way to 10000! This was then applied this understanding to predicting and plotting the correct location of set numbers on our number line.
In Science we began to learn about food chains; the children participated in becoming the food chain themselves based on clues they had been given.
We have also been spending time this week practising our singing in preparation for 'Young Voices' in January. I have received many replies from children in the class and hope the receive even more next week!
Finally, this afternoon we have made a great start to the cover of our study work books based on the Pointillism technique we began to explore last week.
It was lovely to meet so many parents at the parent partnership meeting. Thank you for attending.
Have a fantastic weekend.
