Year 4 news

Busy, busy, busy!

We have achieved a lot this week in year 4.

In English, we have started a new unit of work; non-chronological reports. We have looked at the features of a non-chronological report, how it should be set out and the language used. The content of our non-chorological report will be the mythical griffin. The class had lots of fun creating facts about this mysterious creature, which then turned into a class plan. We have now started to write the different paragraphs for our report.

In maths, we have continued with our measurement unit but with a focus on finding the area of shapes. This has been a little tricky but we have nearly cracked it.

In the afternoons, Year 4 have been very busy. In geography, we have looked at 4figure grid references and contour lines. Of course the whole lesson was Harr Potter themed.

Our weekly art lesson has again focused on pointillism. Almost all of us have now finished our study work front covers and I must say, they look fab! We have also now completed our wand boxes and began our Big Art study work page.

In science this week, we have looked more closely at our classification keys, with each group working on categorising animals from different habitats. Next week, we will begin to look at how the environment has changed the habitat of living things and how this has effected them.

This week in R.E we continued our enquiry of Buddhism. We looked at enlightenment and how Buddhists seek to gain it. Mrs Charlesworth is very excited for our lesson next week and wishes to remind everyone that they will need to bring in their P.E kits for Wednesday's lesson.

I hope everyone has enjoyed our Festival of lights disco and I can't wait for next week to begin!
