Year 4 News!

Throughout Maths this week we have recapped how to decide which methods and operations are the most efficient for different types of arithmetic questions. On Tuesday we had our end of term assessment. Following this we worked through some of the questions we got wrong within the test and discussed the methods we used.

In English this week, Miss Davies has worked with the class and we have been looking at commentaries. We have looked at where we might find/hear commentaries and the features of commentaries. To gain an understanding of different commentaries we wrote our own. We used video clips of animals and wrote our own David Attenborough style commentaries. We then wrote our very own for a game of Quidditch! First we planned our games of Quidditch, then we wrote our commentaries using our plans and our understanding of the features in a commentary.

It has been a busy studywork week this week. On Monday we completed our History pages and some of us started to prepare our Science page.

On Tuesday, we planned our fair test which will be taking place in Science. The children decided what aspects of the test they would need to keep the same in order to make it fair and what they would be measuring. This was all recorded in their books ready for our experiment next week.

On Wednesday, the children continued to work hard on their studywork and finished off the afternoon by practising their singing for YoungVoices.

On Thursday, Miss Welch taught PE. The children focused on learning the ways to pass the ball in netball. We played a variety of games to gain an understanding of control and passing the ball successfully.

Finally, we ended the week on Friday by learning about different mythical creatures. We used our sketch books to sketch our very own!

We look forward to another exciting week and are can't wait for our Harry Potter Theme Day!
