What another fantastic week in Year 4!

On Monday in Year 4, we were very lucky to have lots of visitors! It started with a visit from PC Nick and was shortly followed by a workshop with Matt Buckingham (a famous author/illustrator). He shared some of his amazing illustrations and books he had written. He read Bright Stanley to the class and everyone seemed to love it! He then showed us the techniques he uses to create his illustrations and we were lucky enough to be shown his sketch books of ideas! In the afternoon, we had another visitor come in to share a computing workshop with us! As a class we learnt how to use different apps to record sound and light levels as well as how to present the data we collected.

In English this week, Year 4 have learnt all about Shakespeare. We have gathered information and written our own fact files based on Shakespeare's life, family and career. This week we will be looking at the plays he has written.

With Maths we have been learning how to write decimals on a number line, write decimals in words and how to order decimals. It's been another challenging week in Maths but Year 4 are working very hard.

Within Art we have completed our Tudor portraits within the realistic style of Hans Holbein. They look fantastic and very realistic!

And to finish off our week we had another visitor on Friday! To celebrate international day of dance we learnt Tudor dancing. The children loved experiencing something new and all took on the role of a Tudor perfectly. We learnt that Tudor dancing was more about control than speed as they danced at a very slow pace.

It has been a lovely week in Year 4 and we are looking forward to what next week has to offer.

Have a nice week.
Miss Welch
