Year 4 News!
Wow! What a week in year 4!
On Monday, a crime scene appeared in our classroom. We have spent the week predicting what the clues may mean, establishing the facts and writing our own crime report. It has been super exciting and next week we will look more at the crime itself and look for witnesses to the crime.
In our maths lessons this week, we having finished our unit of work on time. We are now able to convert time between analogue and digital clocks and record time in 24 hours. Additionally this week, we have been battling on TT rockstars and took an online timestable quiz.
We finished off our wattle and daub this week by adding a salt dough mixture to the frame we had created. We are now waiting for them to dry before we add the patterns. In French this week, we have learnt how to say numbers 1-5 using another fun game.
We have been working hard on our studywork books this week adding it lots of exciting work in preparation for the end of the year and studywork sharing.
Today, we have been on a fantastic trip to Little Moreton Hall where we stepped back in time to explore Tudor life. When we arrived, we were met by 3 ladies who showed us how we were to greet people before entering. Throughout our day, we explored the beautiful hall with our guides who pointed out so many interesting things. It was crazy to think we were in a building that is over 500 years old. During one of our workshops, we explored primary and secondary sources and were given secondary artefacts which we needed to guess what they were and what they may have been used for. Next, we learnt about how Tudor houses were built out of oak and the way the wood was placed together using pegs. The weather has been glorious all day and this meant we were able to have a picnic on the lawn. It was so lovely. This afternoon, we explored many herbs and spices and were told how they would have been used during the Tudor times. Then, we were able to make our own sweet smelling pomanders.
It has been a fabulous week in year 4 topped off with a great educational visit.
Have a lovely weekend!
