We look forward to welcoming you all back to Spring 2 half term tomorrow — Monday 22nd February. ...
Year 4 News
During English, Year 4 have completed their persuasive letters from The King to Chulak begging for his precious, white elephant to be returned. Later on in the week, we explored what a balanced argument looked like and how this would be different to our last piece of work. To help us write our own balanced argument the children have gathered points for and against animals being kept in a zoo. We have started to write our own balanced argument to Chester Zoo explaining our ideas.
Within our SPaG lessons this week, we have been learning about how to use possessive apostrophe for singular and plural words.
This week in Maths we have begun to use our PowerMaths books and doing lots of different tasks. We have been continuing to look at multiplying 3-digit numbers, we've been solving lots of word problems and we have begun to look at multiplying more than 2 numbers in the same question!
On Tuesday, Year 4 have a music afternoon! We started off by practising more of our songs for YoungVoices which isn't too far away now! Then, Year 4 had their Trumpet lesson in which they learnt more notes and songs.
Within History this week, we have continued to study the Shang Dynasty this week. The children worked within pairs to do some research about the hierarchy and social classes within the Shang Dynasty and we compared their lifestyle to our own — we found many differences!
After out soundwalk in Science last week, we wanted to present our data in a chart so the children created a barchart from the data they had collected within their groups whilst exploring the sound level around the school. We will be using this as part of our studywork for this term.
Enjoy your weekend!
