Year 4

Home » News » Year 4

We have been extremely busy this week in Year 4. I am so proud of what we have accomplished this week.

In maths this week, we have been focusing on measurement and in particular, converting units of measure. It's been a tough challenge but we have nearly cracked it. We have had some great fun in our maths lessons, we have even measured ourselves for our Harry Potter wands!

In English, we have been investigating the Boy Who Lived. In our new unit of work, we will be learning about newspapers. We have had fun creating freeze frames in drama, we even used our own wands! Within our newspaper teams, we have also decided what facts we will be including in our newspaper report. A great team effort!

Afternoon lessons have involved starting our geography unit, which will be looking at the different countries and geographical regions in the UK. As well as this, we have been continuing with our art unit; pointillism. We have been looking at how to mix primary colours to create secondary colours. It's been messy! For our history unit, we will be discovering about the first railways. The children were asked to record what they all ready know about trains and what they want to find out. Within science this week, we have been looking at how we can categorise living things; lots of fun team work activities.

R.E this half term is a free enquiry about a religion that the children are interested in. As the children have been asking about Buddhism quite frequently throughout the Autumn term, this will now be our area of enquiry.

It's been a week full of challenges and Year 4 has risen to the challenge. I am proud of you, keep it up.
