Year 3's Blue Planet Adventure

Home » News » Year 3's Blue Planet Adventure

On Friday, we enjoyed our long awaited Blue Planet adventure. It was well worth waiting for...

We saw a myriad of underwater creatures, from Lemon Sharks to Stone fish. We explored mangrove swamps, coral reefs and sea beds.We watched as stingrays and giant crabs were fed, learned how divers communicate under water, and were amazed as sharks and moray eels swam overhead.

We listened very carefully in the Blue Planet classroom, learning all about sharks' teeth and turtles' shells. We even got chance to stroke a starfish. Did you know a poor old starfish has no brain and no heart, whilst an octopus has 9 brains and 3 hearts?

We got up close to tarantulas and poisonous dart frogs...but were very happy that they were safely held in glass tanks! There were so many incredible creatures to see! It was an underwater odyssey!

Year 3 behaved impeccably; following the Blue Planet's rules, remembering to look carefully and listen well, showing courtesy to other visitors, and asking sensible, inquisitive questions. It was a pleasure to hear their excitement...and there were special moments of awe and wonder. They made Miss Lake very proud and were a credit to our school.

Miss Lake would like to say a big thank you to the parents who joined us, and hopes they enjoyed the day as much as the children.

We also worked hard whilst in class last week; completing our Kensuke's Kingdom inspired stories, learning about data-handling, enjoying a lesson about other faiths, and completing geography based study work pages. Miss Pennance has updated news about Sing Fest too. Take a look; you can now enjoy singing along at home.

I hope you had a great weekend year 3. You need to be an octopus this week; no starfish allowed! You'll need to bring all your new information from Friday's visit into the classroom to help with Log Book writing. I know you'll do a brilliant job of this after everything you learned and saw on Friday!
