This week we have been learning about lines, report writers and hill fort historians...

In Maths this week we continued our investigations into angles and shape. We recapped the terminology: acute, obtuse, right angle, straight line angles and degrees. We then went on to discuss different type of lines including horizontal and vertical. We used a VR roller coaster to help us remember what a vertical line is!. We found out that when these two types of line join they form a right angle! We used this knowledge to help us complete questions in our Power Maths books. We moved onto parallel lines and how to spot them! Throughout the week we have also been busy adding to our TTRockstar score in a fierce battle against Stapeley Broad Lane, well done guys! On Friday we completed our reasoning quiz and it was brilliant to see children displaying all the knowledge they've managed to learn this year, including fractions, times tables, angles and shape!

In English this week we spent time finishing our non chronological reports about renewable energy. We edited our work and then copied up using our best handwriting for Study Work, they look and sound fantastic! Well done, guys! Throughout the week we have also recapped some key SPaG knowledge and have used our SPaG books to help us!

In Book Club this week we completed comprehension questions around our history topic, the Iron Age. We worked hard to find more information out about the Iron Age and we used this to help us in our history lessons too! We also had the chance to quiet read this week too!

In Music this week, we had two lessons on our unit 'Bringing us Together'. We focused upon learning the lyrics this week! Our song has a very positive message and it was lovely to hear the children singing with such enthusiasm.

In History this week we've continued to investigate the Iron Age. We have built upon last weeks' learning and now have a much more broadened view of the Iron Age times. We spent a lesson looking at hill forts and how a typical tribe would have lived. We looked at the features of a fort and what was needed to help defend yourself! Ditches, ramparts and roundhouses were all discussed. This helped us to create our very own mini hill forts out of clay. It was great to see the children applying their knowledge of hill forts to create features out of their clay — well done!

We also continued with our Daily Mile this week, with children getting faster and running each day! During Mindful Monday we shared the hall with Y4 and Y6 to take part in some calming breathing exercises.

Have a fantastic (hopefully sunny!) weekend...
