This week we have been climbing out of the 'learning pit' in English and Maths. At the start of the week we didn't know much about fractions of amounts or the present-perfect tense. However, we worked together and mastered these two new learning skills. It was tricky and there were obstacles in the way but we did not give up. Great work everyone!

In our afternoon lessons we have been delving deeper into our Robin Hood topic. On Monday afternoon we began our new music topic — glockenspiels. During the lesson we learnt about rhythm and the importance of keeping time. We then used this knowledge to play a song and we even had a go at composing a little bit of the song ourselves. On Tuesday you had P.E with SportsScape. On Wednesday, we joined Robin Hood and the Outcasts to help them plan an attack against Nottingham Castle! We learnt about the many different forms of attack but had to curtail our might plans by working within a budget. During Thursday afternoon, all of you gathered information about Piet Mondrian and presented your findings in your own way (he is the artist we will be looking at for this term). Finally, today we did coding. We had to use our knowledge of sequencing and programming to create an algorithm that would tell the traffic lights to come on and go off at particular times. We practiced our code using paper first and then transferred this skill.

It has been another great week and everyone has worked hard; be proud of everything you have achieved this week Year 3!

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Pennance
