Year 3 News
During our maths lessons this week, we have been learning about fractions. In particular, we have been investigating what tenths are. Did you know, that a tenth is created when you cut something into 10 pieces? We then learnt that a tenth can be written as a fraction or as a decimal. This was new learning for us and to master it we learnt about a new place value column, the tenths column, and the grumpy decimal! He's grumpy because he refuses to move which means all the digits have to move around him.
In English, we were transported into Sherwood Forest and have been writing some beautiful imagined descriptions. Brilliant writing skills everyone!
In our afternoon lessons, we have also been very busy. On Monday, we spent the afternoon investigating our new R.E topic, Judaism. During the lesson, we were thinking about what rules we live by and a why they are important. We then linked this to what rules God would like us to live by and what the 10 commandments are, linking this to how important they are to Judaism. On Tuesday, you had P.E with Sportscape. Wednesday afternoon saw us investigating castles. We learnt about the key features of the castles and learnt lots of new subject specific vocabulary. On Thursday afternoon we did some observational drawings of trees and used this knowledge to create our first study work page and on today we have done Computing.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Pennance
