The last two week have been lots of fun.

We have been doing various activities and learning lots of new things.

In Maths, we have been learning a new written method called long multiplication. It was a bit tricky at first but after a few goes our confidence and understanding soared! We got it! In English, our work was linked heavily to one of our history themes . . . castles! We used the facts and information that we had gathered to write some fantastic factual descriptions. If you want to know about the history of castles and their features, just ask Year 3 because we are the class who know.

As well as learning about and making castles, our afternoons have also involved investigative work. We have been exploring what rocks are. To start with, we looked at different rock samples and compared them; we looked at their surfaces, their textures and their colours. Next, we went onto learn about the rock cycle and learnt that there are three rock categories. Can you remember what they are? That's right, sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous. We used sweets to emulate how each of these rock types is formed. It was very exciting and lots of fun.

Hope you have a great weekend and see you on Monday,

Miss P
