In Year 3 this week...

This week in English, we have worked on diary writing. First, we looked at examples of diaries to find the features and layout which make a diary a diary! Then, we wrote a diary of one exciting day in our lives. Next, we recapped one day in the life of Robin Hood. We brainstormed the events of the day, thought about Robin's feelings, and worked on ways to move time on in our diary entry. Our final task, using the first person (being Robin Hood himself), was to write a diary entry all about the day Robin Hood met Friar Tuck. We've really got the hang of diary writing now!

In maths, we partitioned 2 digit numbers to make additions easier and everyone made lots of progress with this skill. Then, we were introduced to Maths Frog! He does like to jump, and really helped us to use number lines to hop along so that we could subtract two numbers by adding on! It's great finding ways to make maths easier.

Our afternoons have been busy too! We've worked on our harvest service and do hope you can join us next week to help us say thank you for all of Autumn's gifts. We've learned more about coding in Computing, continued our music with Mrs Chesters, put work into study work books and, this afternoon, we sang 'Head and shoulders, knees and toes' in French. We also learned to say how we were feeling and to count to 20!

Next week is our Harvest worship and class photos will be taken too. Keep an eye on the website for reminders.

The date is set for our trip to Oakhanger for our Robin Hood experience in the woodland, and a letter will come home soon with more details. We can't wait for our day of adventure!

Have a great weekend everyone.
