Year 2's Week Full of Magic!
What a magical week! When we came into school on Monday, we discovered that the characters from the Magic Faraway Tree had paid us a visit! We think that they had gone to the top of the tree and when they got there the land was 'The Land of Wybunbury Delves'!! We spend some time looking for clues! Harriet definitely saw a bright light in the classroom (we think it was Moonface). We then decided we wanted the characters to come back so we planned to write them a letter telling them what a great school Wybunbury Delves is! Joseph told them they can learn French at French Club, Charley told them they can have yummy cake for lunch, Louis said the teachers make him laugh and Archie said the teachers help the children's brains to get bigger! We also have been on the look out for Dame Washalot so we have been wearing an umbrella hat in the reading forest! I'm sure they'll pay us another visit soon!
In maths, we have been using blank number lines and have been working out where numbers sit on the line. We have also been partitioning numbers. The children have been choosing a challenge throughout their lessons and I have been impressed with how much maths we are fitting in to our lessons! Well done Year 2.
In other news, we have started using the laptops and we are learning how to make our own PowerPoint presentation on trees or The Magic Faraway Tree. So far we have typed text, changed fonts, added a background and imported pictures. In addition to all of that, we saved our work and named our documents. Phew, we need a sleep after all of that! Thank you to Ewan who had made a PowerPoint slide at home so acted as our expert! Well done!
Have a lovely weekend.
