Another busy week has flown by in Year 2. We have continued to enjoy our phonics lessons and the adults that teach you in your groups have all told me how hard you are all working. It was been fantastic to see so many of you reading so much at home too. Well done! Keep filling in those reading diairies.

In maths this week, we have finished our place value unit. We have created calculations using the symbols greater than, less than and equals. We have built upon our maths vocabulary, learning fewer, fewest, greatest and greater to name a few! We are well established now with our Power Maths routine and I am impressed with your maths knowledge!

In English, we have read more of Julia Donaldson's stories. Which is your favourite so far? We found out what a book review is and what makes a good one and wrote our own based on our favourite Julia Donaldson story. We also revisited question marks and used them in sentences started with the question words who, what, where, when and why.

In science with Miss Holland, you continued your unit on materials this week learning all about recyclable materials. You followed the process of a plastic bottle being recycled and you were very interested in finding out what happened after you put it in to your bin at home. This week we have a homework task linked to this activity. Please see below:
Record of Recycling: In this task, children will keep a record of any items they recycle in a week. They will record each different item, the total number of the same item and the way in which they recycle it. Please bring this homework in by Thursday to discuss in your next Science lesson with Miss Holland.

Lastly but certainly not least, we finished the week with our Superhero theme day!! We started our day with some superhero games, we designed our own superhero and described their powers and we made our very own superhero ID cards. Thank you to all of you for putting so much thought and effort into your costumes. We had a brilliant day!

Have a lovely weekend.
Miss McCurrie
