A huge thank you all once again for your support in these challenging times! Seesaw has been...
Year 2 this week
In year 2 this week we have been in an argumentative mood!
We began the week looking at the chapter headings in our story 'The owl who was afraid of the dark': Dark is; exciting, kind, fun, necessary, fascinating, wonderful and beautiful. We decided that they were positive words. We then thought about which words could be the opposite or negative. We came up with some fantastic words, such as dull, spooky, unnecessary, awful, ugly, unkind and an amazing word from Emma, 'deplorable!' After writing our reasons for using these words, we then moved on to our very own debate! Henry B told us we were like politicians because they debate too! The children did a great job giving their arguments and listening to others.
In Maths we have been measuring in cm and metres and looking at capacity in ml and litres. We have also learned about which root words mean 100 and 1000 to help us remember how to convert cm into m and ml into l.
In study work we have completed our science page, began coding on the Ipads and started cutting felt into owl shapes ready to begin sewing our hand puppets in D & T. We have also been trying very hard to sketch owls, producing some lovely pictures. We have some talented artists!
Next week is interfaith week, organised by Mrs Taylor. We will also be continuing with measuring. This time we will look at money and time. We will also begin descriptive writing.
Have a lovely weekend owlets!
