Year 2 Roman Day

We had a fantastic Roman Day yesterday. It was lovely to see so many dressed up for the occasion.
We started our day with a visit to the Roman Baths. Not a quick dip like we might have today. We did Roman exercises and practised our fierce Roman Soldier moves. Next we had a relax and some Roman snacks. We all tried olives, dates, grapes, oatcakes and grape juice and then decided which our favourites were. After our snack we needed to wash our hands. We did this Roman style with olive oil and a strigil and then with soap. Some of us thought that washing with olive oil was a better way of cleaning and it felt soft afterwards. Our final stop at the baths was the steam room. We relaxed and talked to our friends and thought about the differences between Roman bath time and ours.

After break we made Roman honey cakes which we baked and then ate in the afternoon.

After lunch we all made a centurions helmet and played Roman dice games.

Thank you so much to Ben's Grandma, Leon's Mum, Cameron's Mum, Sammy's Mum and Jack's Mum. We wouldn't have been able to do so many activities without you.
