So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Year 2 News
Another busy week in Year 2, have we only been back for 2 and a half weeks? We feel like we have been Year 2 for a long time now.
We have begun to write the title and date in our books during the register so that we are ready for work in our lessons.
In Phonics this week we have been looking at the long o sound. We remembered that -ow and -oe usually come at the end of the word, whilst o_e and oa are in the middle. Sometimes we just use o. We thought that o_e often came after blends at the beginning of words, although there were exceptions, whilst oa was often after a single letter again with exceptions. We are remembering to look at words and think 'Would I see it like that in a book?'
In Literacy we read Limericks and found that they were really funny. We practised one to perform and looked at the structure. We wrote rhyming lines that might be used in a limerick.
In Numeracy we have been using money, we have looked at how to make amounts with different coins and have to remember that we don't have 3p coins! We have also looked at finding totals and giving change — this is tricky because there are two steps to remember.
We found out lots of information about Scotland and will be using this later in the term when we create our PowerPoints.
Don't forget that next week is 'Working Outside Week', we will be doing lots of activities outside of the classroom. You will need to have your jumpers and coats if it is rainy and will need your wellingtons for our walk to the Moss.
Enjoy the weekend.
