What a lovey few days back we have had in Year 2! The children were excited to see the changes in the classroom and acted as detectives to work out our new theme this term...The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. We have started the story and have been introduced to some of the characters, called Moonface, Silky the fairy and Saucepan Man. Our 'Big Art' work was all linked to our story too. We painted the characters to put up in the classroom and we made and painted saucepans so we can have our very own Saucepan man in the classroom!

We then tiptoed in to the Year 6 classroom to do some observational drawings of the huge trees outside their classroom. We thought about shapes, sizing and we even started some shading. We then painted our own trees using straws and blowing, with some very impressive results! These will now start our art display in the classroom.

In English, we have been learning all about 'contractions' and this will be sent home as our SPAG homework this week. In maths, we have started to think about our formal times tables, starting with x2 and x0. It was exciting for us to find out that even if we timed one million by zero, we would still end up with zero!

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. See you tomorrow.
