In English, this week, we have continued our descriptive writing journey. We have used our world drawings as inspiration and thought about how to create great sentences. We've built up our sentences from noun phrases to descriptive sentences and then added connectives. We will continue with descriptions after half term, eventually building our own class book about our worlds.

In Maths we have begun our unit on multiplication. We've looked at how to build up strategies to help us transition from using numicon, cubes etc. by drawing a picture then writing the sum. We've also looked at the relationship between our counting starters and multiplication. We will continue with multiplication and then move on to division after half term.

In the afternoons we have been learning about Neil Armstrong as part of our history. We have looked at the important events in his life and ordered them on to a timeline. We have also completed our study work covers with Mrs Hughes. They look brilliant! We have continued with our ICT on Espresso coding and completed our science by learning about a healthy diet and how exercise affects our bodies.

There is no spelling sheet in the green books this week. Instead, there is a list of Year 1 and 2 common exception words for the children to recap. The children have two pages to complete in their white books, ready for Tuesday 23rd February. Although our spellings day has reverted back to Mondays, for the first two weeks back the children will be tested on Tuesday.

I hope you have a lovely week and I look forward to seeing everyone, well rested, on Tuesday 23rd February!
