It has been so lovely to see you back this week. What a start to the term we have had, if every week is like this one we will have a fantastic time.
In Literacy we have been learning about Quest Stories, where obstacles occur and the character has to go on a journey to sort things out. I am really looking forward to marking your versions this weekend. We also thought about past and present tense and how verbs change when the tense changes.
In Numeracy we have been counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s. We used this website game to help us get quicker at counting in different numbers — www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/earlymath/BalloonPopSkip.htm There are lots of other games on this site which you might enjoy and it also works through the puffin academy on iPads. We have looked at the pattern that the multiples make on a 100 square and have learnt a trick to find out if a number is in the 3 times table — the digits when added together until you have a single digit will always add up to 3, 6 or 9. So far we haven't found one that doesn't work. We have also been finding fractions of numbers by counting out a group of items and then sharing them into groups. We learnt that 3/4 means to make four groups and then count 3 of them. Today we used our fractions work to find half of the required amounts in a recipe so that we could make rice crispy cakes. They tasted delicious!
In our Big Art we have drawn Egyptian hieroglyphs and created Tutankhamun's sarcophagus. Have a good rest this weekend, see you Monday.
