Year 2 News
Well another busy week is over!
In Numeracy this week we have been doing addition by partitioning. This is where we take a number sentence e.g. 34 + 52 = and partition the numbers into their tens and units — so 30 + 50 and 4 + 2 once we have worked both tens and units out we add them back together. Some of us have also been using this method in subtraction, whilst others have been using an number line to count backwards.
In Literacy we have been writing about the setting and characters in our class story and have written our own quest story as an alternative to the book.
In Science we have been learning about life cycles and how animals and plants change at different stages of their lives.
In Computing we have been learning about PowerPoint. We have made 'Our First PowerPoint' and changed the font size, colour and type. We have also had to learn how to open and save our files. We will be using these skills to create presentations about Ancient Egypt to present to the rest of the class.
Mrs Pratt-Thompson, Mrs Stockton and Mrs Smith helped us to sew the edges of some material as the start of a cushion that we will be making in DT.
Spelling test will be on Wednesday next week.
We are looking forward to sharing our learning with some of you next week.
Enjoy the long weekend
