Another lovely week has come and gone.
On Tuesday we shared what we had learnt about the Hindu festival of Diwali and part of our Candlemas celebrations.
As part of Interfaith week, we have had a visit from Ann Angel who talked to us about her Jewish faith and Jay who talked to us about his Hindu faith. We discovered that there are similarities between our faiths.
We have also been thinking about what makes us British; the Romans invaded Britain as did other people that we have found out about. We thought that the difference between invaders and settlers is that invaders try to take over. We decided that we are all from the Nantwich and Wybunbury areas of Cheshire but not all of us have lived here all our lives. We are enjoying sharing the stories of where our families have come from. Please continue to send them back as we will be using them for our study work books.
In Literacy we have been looking at poetry. We read '"Oink!" said the Billy Goat' and then tried to write our own lines using different words for said and adding an adjective to describe the animal. Ask your child about their favourite line they wrote. There have been some great ideas.
In Numeracy we have been looking at times tables. We have translated counting in 2s, 5s and 10s into 'how many lots of' and used the mathematical word 'times'. We have also started looking at division as the inverse of multiplication. Homework has been set on My Maths related to this.
We have continued looking at the Roman invasion and discovered that the Romans didn't manage to control all of Britain. We looked at maps of Roman roads to find out where they didn't get to.
Don't forget to bring your red spelling book in on Monday so that it can be marked.
Enjoy the weekend.
