So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Year 2 News
We have all turned into detectives this week in Year 2.
Last week we enjoyed a fantastic visit from Zoo2U. We got to meet and handle a skunk, tenwreck, hedgehog and a boa constrictor called Andre! We also got to meet a horned owl! The children were brilliant! All of them were willing to touch the animals and were able to tell Melissa, from Zoo2U, lots of outstanding animal facts, in particular facts about owls!
We have become English detectives, finding crucial information, in texts about owls, in order to answer questions. We have also looked at how we can use that information to write answers in full sentences. We have also written some fantastic recounts of the Zoo2U visit last week. We focused on using past tense words, reinforcing our phonics work on past tense suffixes.
In Maths we have continued using partitioning, this time in subtraction. We have also continued to work on our problem solving and reasoning.
Book club has begun again, after a short break, in a new slot on Friday. We looked at finding suffixes in a text and making inferences from different parts of a text. This will also be our new slot for book change.
During the afternoons we have been completing our science work on animals and their offspring and creating our Science study work page. We have also enjoyed our first music session of the year, learning about the pulse and following it with our glockenspiels!
