Year 2 News

Home » News » The week we had a Roman feast

We have had a lovely week in Year 2. In Numeracy we have been going back to check our learning for the more than and less than signs, positioning numbers on a numberline and number patterns and sequences. We used a number roll to help us predict where to position numbers on a blank numberline, and crocodiles have been very helpful to show the more than > and less than < signs!

Did you guess the clue from our news feed last week? In Literacy we have begun to research facts related to nocturnal animals. We have looked at the features of a report, and to help us we have used a jigsaw picture of what a report looks like. To make our report sound interesting we are learning some technical words like carnivore, omnivore, predator and prey. As a class we have decided actions for each animal. I think our action for the bat is my favourite. Which one is your favourite?

Our Roman Feast was an exciting afternoon. We were fortunate to sample lots of food given to us by Sainsburys. We tried grape juice pomegranates, figs, dates, honey and bread, olives, grapes and celery. Thank you to Olwyn from Sainsburys for organising this.

Our Roman frescos are now being painted, and we just need to add a few finishing touches. We have been thinking about the best way to draw and paint on the plaster. In PE we have been playing as a big team and we are getting to know how to play Rounders.

Next week we will be starting our Sports Day practises. Please can you make sure your PE kit, sun hat and water bottle are in school all week.

Have a lovely sunny weekend!
