Another busy week in Year 2 has passed us by. This week's English has been based around the well loved story Lost and Found and we worked on retelling the story in our own words. Mrs Chesters was so impressed with our writing she gave us brand new English books to work from. They have smaller lines so we are really focusing on our handwriting now. I am impressed so far. In maths we have continued on our addition and subtraction units, using practical resources to help us. I am impressed with your resilience when we have moved on to adding bigger numbers and trying new strategies.

After recent phonics assessments that took place before half term, we started in our new phonics groups this week. I had lots of great feedback from our phonics teachers who have told me how well you have settled in to your new groups. I am so pleased with how you are using your phonics in our English lessons and your reading books. Keep up the great work.

In the afternoons, we have continued with our art work inspired by Roy Lichtenstein. We created our own pieces of art, based on his comic work. We learnt all about primary colours and bold lines and shapes and layering in order to create our own piece of Roy Lichtenstein art work. We are excited to finish these next week and see them up on display.

We also looked at poppies and why we wear poppies. The children wrote all about what they were thankful for on their own poppies. These were beautiful to read.

We were very lucky on Wednesday to have visitors from Hi Impact to teach us coding lessons using Robot Toys. This was really exciting and the children had the opportunity to use blue bots and play coding and programming games. Miss Marsden from Hi Impact commented on our excellent behaviour and how well we listened. I was obviously in agreement! Thank you for making me proud.

I hope you have had a lovely weekend and I am already looking forward to next week together.
Miss McCurrie
