Year 2 News
Well done to everyone in Year 2 for another successful week, yesterday we celebrated Harvest. I am sure that you will agree that the children did a great job.
In Phonics this week we have been looking at the long oo sound. This has led to us discussing accents as some of us use a long oo in words like cook and book whereas some of us use a short u sound. We accepted that both ways are correct, and that it helps us to know that we use the double oo in these words.
In English we have been looking at using nouns, adjectives and verbs to describe Wybunbury Moss. We have used writing by authors to give us ideas that we can use in our own writing.
In Maths we have continued to look at time and are now moving on to using our knowledge of number pairs to 10 to find answers to questions like 34 + _ = 40. We have also begun to use a blank number line to count jumps between numbers.
Following the things we learnt about food chains in our harvest work we have learnt how to record food chains.
