Year 2 Lest We Forget

Home » News » Year 2 Lest We Forget

Another busy week in Year 2...is there any other kind?! We have finished our letter writing week by writing our letters to Father Christmas. We then braved the weather to walk to Wybunbury Post Office to post them. We ordered 26 stamps, stuck them on our letters and off they went. We will be waiting eagerly for our reply from Father Christmas. The children have a copy of their letters in their bags too.

In maths, we have been 'finding the difference' between two numbers. So far we have used number lines and numicon to help us. Children, if you have a number line or numicon at home, can you show off to your parents how you find the difference between two numbers?
In the afternoons, we have been continuing our work on maps by drawing our own and we have been learning this year's nativity songs. We sound great already!

Today has been a very special day as we celebrate Remembrance Day. Everybody looked the part, with nurses, soldiers, poppy collectors, evacuees and many more. Thank you to all the effort you go to. Today we have written our own acrostic poems using the words POPPY, HERO or REMEMBER. Which one did you choose? We have thought as a class of words we could use for our poems and then have written them by ourselves. I had a very proud moment as the children wrote beautiful poems. We also participated in Mrs Pennance's special Remembrance Worship and the children watched a lovely video which they asked me to share with you so they can watch it at home. Click here to watch.

Thank you to all the photos of your baking you have done at home as part of our Farm to Fork homework. Keep them coming in, we have been enjoying sharing them in class and hearing all about the different foods you have made.
Have a lovely weekend.
Mrs Rogers
