So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Year 1...Lest we Forget
Year 1 really enjoyed buying poppies, bands and bracelets to raise money for the poppy appeal. We then learnt all about why we wear poppies and why the poppy was chosen to remember the soldiers who fell during the war. The children learnt about Flanders Fields and produced some fantastic artwork which has been framed and this, along with their writing, is being showcased in the school entrance.
We shared our learning and a song we had learnt in worship on Wednesday and then our numeracy lesson was delivered in the style of a classroom in World War 1. We moved the tables to all face the front and wrote using chalk and blackboards. The children named us "Strict Mrs Rogers" and "Strict Mrs Parker"! Most of the children couldn't stop giggling and most preferred the classroom "back to normal!" 'Strict Mrs Casserley' even visited and told the children they needed to have straight backs and clean fingernails! Lots of giggles all round!
Thank you to all the children and adults for costumes this week. As I'm sure you'll agree from the photographs, the children looked fantastic with all of the different costumes and it really brought our learning to life.
Today, the children looked great and we had so many different costumes from a doctor, pilot, palaeontologist, make up artist, princesses, superheroes, policemen, farmer, teachers and plenty more! Everyone looked fantastic and we raised lots of money for Children in Need.
We have started thinking about the nativity and met with year 2 today to listen to and learn our songs.
Have a lovely weekend.
