Year 1 Scientists

Home » News » Year 1 Scientists

We have really enjoyed Science Week in Year 1! We have learnt lots of new science words such as 'observe' and ' predict' and used these skills in our experiments. We have made instant snow and observed the changes like real scientists. We predicted what might happen in our walking water experiment and observed changes during the week to our 'silly squares'. Louis and Fin also set their own experiment up along side the Silly Squares to see what would happen if they were taken back out of the water. Well done!

We have also linked Science Week to our learning about animals this term. We have found out all about how animals keep themselves warm in the Arctic and all about blubber. We even had a go to see how blubber works. Children, can you explain this experiment? We then learnt all about camouflage, what it is and why animals might need to camouflage in their habitat. What a wonderful week full of questions, experiments and learning. Fin also brought in his microscope from home and explained all about how it works. Thank you Fin.
