Well done for another week of home learning. I am proud of each and every one of you (and your mums...

Year 1 News
What a busy week!
Year 1 have worked so hard this week and I am very proud of them all. At the beginning of the week, they completed their Year 1 Phonics Screening and let me tell you they tried their best which is all we ask for.
In English, we have been re writing the story — 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch'. Year 1 have used adjectives to improve their writing and have shared their story with the class. It has been lovely to see how confident they all are. Year 1 have worked hard learning all about singular and plural and prefixes and suffixes — a tricky concept — however, as always they have all tried their best!
In Maths this week, we have completed our Power Maths Unit — Geometry and have now moved on to a new unit FRACTIONS! We have been serving paper pizzas in class today with half pepperoni and cheese or tomato and pepper. The children have enjoyed our delicious practical lessons.
In PE, well, we are experts at playing tennis! The children have worked well as a team and have shown their competitive side!
In art we have been looking at David Hockney's landscape drawings and have applied his style to their lighthouse drawings and every single one looks unique — marvellous job!
As a whole school, we have started our mile run this week, the children have enjoyed challenging themselves. They are all eager to get out of the classroom and step up their steps!
In PSHE, we have had lots of circle time, where we have been discussing 'How to be a good friend' and 'What to do when we feel sad'. The children have been keen to talk, express their feelings and opinions. They have worked as a team and came up with lots of ideas, such as; going for a walk, listening to music, talking to someone...being a good friend by being kind, thoughtful and helpful...
Have a fantastic weekend and see you on Monday,
Miss H
