So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Year 1 - News this Week
What a week we have had! It has been a privilege to take part in a variety of activities which have enhanced both our learning and experiences in Year 1. Meeting Matt the author on Monday, on Wednesday we learnt how to use a brand new app, and on Friday we created our own African dance. We have excelled in so many ways.
In Literacy this week it has been lovely to see how we can write with a partner and build different words into our sentences. We have been adding joining words like and, but and so to extend our ideas.
Problem solving and learning about arrays have been our topics within Maths this week. We have explored arrays in everyday life and created our own array linked to our new study work topic. As we have been doing this we have been starting to learn new language related to multiplication.
Bright Stanley is the title of one of Matt Buckingham's books and it is a perfect link to our Wonders at Sea topic. On Monday he read it to us, talked about how he gathers his ideas, and showed a range of his sketch books which were really inspiring.
Within our Computing session we were able to create a Puppet Pal show with our own narration, and then we learnt how to add the Tiger who came to Tea characters. This interactive session was great fun.
On Friday, we learnt all about how to move our body to feel the rhythm of the African music. By the end of the session we created our own class dance and it was wonderful!
A very interesting week for us in Year 1, and one that we have enjoyed very much.
