So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Year 1 News
What a wonderful week, and we have lots to celebrate in Year 1. As a class we have been very proud of the way we have been practising our reading at home and in school recently. So much so that there has been lots of new learning achieved in reading this week. This is without mentioning our World Book Day yesterday. You all looked fantastic and it was so lovely to hear why you had chosen your costumes, and all the talk about books that went with this.
In Literacy our focus has been to write all about the life of Jane Goodall and there has been lots to learn. We now know she is 84 years old. When she studied chimpanzees, she found out that they are omnivores and they use tools to help them eat. We loved watching a video of a rescue chimp coming over to Jane and giving her a big hug. We have written fact files and today we have been writing them in our best handwriting.
Fact families have been fun to learn in Maths this week. We have used our + and — symbols to create lots of fact families. Our focus has also to compare + and — number sentences using the more than > and less than < sign.
Our computing work has given us the opportunity to learn about repeating steps to help solve a maze. We found out that these were called loops. We then used our own logins to unlock our next steps in learning within our studio code account. Year 1, you really impressed me with your independence to logon and take part in the online activities.
In RE we have thought about the Kingdom of God to decide how we might help the Kingdom of God grow. We enjoyed listening to another version of the Mustard seed parable too.
This week in PE we attempted to relax and boost our energy with a yoga lesson. In Music we are continuing to find the pulse and clap rhythms back. Next we will begin to appraise pieces of music.
Have a lovely weekend, I wonder what we might be celebrating next week?
